From my vantage point at the Indigo Hotel in New York City, the multitude of windows sparked my artistic inspiration. Enthralled by the city's dynamic energy, I embarked on a series celebrating its essence using a blend of mixed media techniques.
Beginning with the image transfer process onto canvas, I chose to take it further by deliberately tearing the canvas, introducing texture and imperfection. Binding the torn pieces together using clasps, safety pins, and twine added a distinct tactile quality to each artwork.
This series serves as an exploration beyond traditional painting methods, aiming to encapsulate the city's architecture, landmarks, and vibrancy. The fusion of image transfer, torn canvas, and diverse materials resulted in multidimensional pieces, offering viewers a new perspective on New York City's raw beauty.
Through this experimental journey with mixed media, I sought to redefine artistic boundaries, creating emotionally evocative artworks that capture the visceral essence of New York City. Ultimately, the series invites audiences to experience the city's spirit through a unique artistic lens.
