Doesn’t Matter Chatter explores the noise of language—what is said, repeated, and ultimately dismissed. The composition draws on fragments of communication, constructing a figure that feels shaped by external voices yet resistant to being defined by them.
Repetition and disruption mirror the cadence of chatter itself—words circulating, losing clarity, and shifting in meaning. What initially feels casual or insignificant begins to reveal an underlying tension, where language becomes both a tool of control and a site of release.
As with much of Van Atta’s work, the surface becomes a space of negotiation—where image, voice, and identity intersect, overlap, and are continuously reassembled.
