Suck It Up, Sweetheart explores the quiet violence of expectations placed upon women—to endure, accommodate, and remain beautiful through it all.
Layering vintage imagery, fragmented domestic references, expressive marks, and bold color, the composition juxtaposes traditional femininity with gestures of resistance. A delicate female figure stands amid visual disruption, caught between the roles she has inherited and the autonomy she seeks.
The title delivers a familiar dismissal with biting irony, challenging the cultural tendency to minimize women's experiences while demanding their composure.
Both playful and confrontational, this mixed-media work examines the tension between vulnerability, resilience, and rebellion.
Medium: Collage, acrylic, and resin on panel
Dimensions: 27 × 20 × 1.25 inches
Year: 2026
