Purple Aster & Micro Jade Porcelain Milk Jug
A little vintage nostalgia with a beautifully painterly personality.
This one-of-a-kind handmade porcelain milk jug features a captivating combination of Purple Aster and Micro Jade glazes, creating a richly layered surface of muted rosy tones, flowing turquoise-green, and subtle darker accents.
The glazes interact organically across the vessel, with cool blue-green passages cascading over the warmer surface beneath. Delicate variations in color, unexpected transitions, and natural glaze movement give the piece an almost painterly quality, reminiscent of a miniature abstract artwork.
Inspired by the familiar silhouette of a vintage milk jug, this handmade ceramic vessel transforms an everyday household form into a small contemporary sculpture. Its angular body, distinctive integrated handle, and compact proportions create a charming balance between utilitarian nostalgia and artistic expression.
The contrast between the earthy rose and luminous jade-like tones brings both warmth and visual interest, making this piece a beautiful addition to a bookshelf, tabletop, kitchen display, or thoughtfully curated collection. Display it as a standalone sculptural object or pair it with a simple arrangement of dried flowers.
Each milk jug is individually handcrafted and glazed in my North Carolina studio. The natural variations that occur during firing ensure that every piece has its own unique character, making this an original work of ceramic art rather than a mass-produced object.
