Polka Dot Porcelain Milk Jug No. 26.149 — Weeping Plum
A little retro charm, a little playful attitude, and a whole lot of personality.
Handcrafted in porcelain by contemporary artist Alissa Van Atta, Milk Jug No. 26.149 combines oversized black polka dots with the soft, organic movement of Weeping Plum glaze.
Bold black dots dance across the creamy white porcelain body, creating a graphic, playful surface reminiscent of mid-century patterns and vintage domestic design. Each dot varies in size and placement, giving the vessel a lively sense of movement.
Above the crisp black-and-white pattern, Weeping Plum introduces a beautifully contrasting layer of muted rose, dusty mauve, and warm earthy tones. The glaze gathers around the narrow neck and flows irregularly over the shoulders, softening the geometry of the polka dots with natural variations in color and surface.
Inspired by the familiar silhouette of a traditional milk container, Van Atta transforms an ordinary household object into a contemporary ceramic sculpture.
The compact handle, squared body, and small pouring spout preserve the nostalgic character of a milk jug, while the exaggerated polka dots and expressive glaze treatment introduce a distinctly modern sensibility.
The result is an object that feels simultaneously familiar and unexpected—a playful intersection of functional form, decorative pattern, and artistic individuality.
Each milk jug is individually formed, decorated, glazed, and fired, making every piece unique in its surface and character.
Display it as a standalone ceramic sculpture, incorporate it into a collection of contemporary pottery, or style it with dried botanical stems.
Milk Jug No. 26.149 is proof that even the most ordinary domestic objects deserve a little drama.
