A familiar utilitarian form with an unexpectedly vibrant, artistic personality.
This one-of-a-kind handmade porcelain carton features a striking Lime Shower glaze, creating an expressive surface of electric chartreuse, citrus green, and deep forest-green markings.
The lively glaze moves across the vessel in irregular clusters, speckles, and organic patterns, with darker passages contrasting dramatically against its luminous green foundation. The result is a richly varied surface that feels almost like a miniature abstract painting, inviting a closer look at the unexpected details created during firing.
Inspired by the simple geometry of vintage household and industrial containers, this handmade ceramic piece transforms an ordinary utilitarian silhouette into a contemporary sculptural object. Its tall, flattened rectangular body, compact proportions, and small circular opening balance familiar function-inspired design with a playful artistic sensibility.
The combination of bold color and graphic texture makes this carton a distinctive accent for a bookshelf, tabletop, desk, or thoughtfully curated collection. Beautiful displayed on its own or styled with a simple arrangement of dried botanical stems, it brings an unexpected splash of color and personality to any space.
Each porcelain carton is individually handcrafted and glazed in my North Carolina studio. The natural variations created through glazing and firing ensure that every piece develops its own distinctive surface, making it an original work of ceramic art rather than a mass-produced object.
